Mirage

Aubusson tapestry woven by the Atelier Pinton With its bolduc. Circa 1965.

Fumeron produced his first cartoons (he would create more than 500) from the 1940s onward, working with the Pinton workshops, and then receiving numerous commissions from the State, before taking part in the decoration of the liner “France”. First figurative, and influenced by Lurçat, he moved toward abstraction, before returning to a colored and realistic figuration from the 1980s. An especially compelling Fumeron cartoon in its finest abstract vein, which places it here on a par with Matégot
