Bloom
Tapestry woven by the Atelier Legoueix.
With its bolduc signed by the artist, no. 1/6.
Circa 1970.
It was in 1953 that Jean Picart le Doux offered Chaye the chance to become his assistant and encouraged him to create tapestry cartoons: he then produced numerous bucolic cartoons, but also views of Normandy (Mont Saint-Michel, Honfleur, regattas,…), from which he was originally from.
Classic cartoon in the artist’s naturalistic vein, a specialist in enclosures, hedges, and other underwood, enlivened by animals.
