The enclosure
Aubusson tapestry woven by the Brivet workshop.
With its bolduc signed by the artist, No. 4/4.
1966.
It was in 1953 that Jean Picart le Doux offered Chaye the chance to become his assistant and encouraged him to create tapestry cartoons: he then produced numerous bucolic cartoons, as well as views of Normandy (Mont Saint Michel, Honfleur, regattas,…), of which he was a native.
A classic cartoon in the artist’s naturalist vein, a specialist in enclosures, hedgerows and other woodland undergrowth.
