Tapestry woven by the Claire Rado workshop.
With its ribbon signed by the artist.
Circa 1965.
In 1964, Claire Rado designed and wove her first tapestry in her studio in Suresnes, which she then exhibited at the Galerie La Demeure. She wove her own cartoons, but, like Daquin and Coffinet, for example, she also transposed the works of others (Soulages in particular, in Claire Rado's case). Her early abstract tapestries were followed by monumental woven figures, with the warp left visible around the edges.
An early tapestry by the artist, in which the design serves to showcase her technical mastery.
